Silect's MP Studio simplifies the management and deployment of System Center Operations Manager by providing you the flexibility and control to customize and master management packs throughout their lifecycle.  Each step below represents a key process when deploying a new management pack or implementing a change to an existing management pack. The processes may repeat more than once as a management pack moves from its file format to pre-production and eventually into production.

Request for Change

  • A new management pack has been requested
  • A change to an override management pack has been requested

Analyze & Document

  • The management pack is analyzed using rich analysis capabilities
  • The management pack is documented by exporting to Excel or HTML

Validate/Test

  • The management pack is tested against one or more servers
  • Resultant set of alerts report (RSoA) and discovery results are exported to Excel

Assessment/Scorecard - pass or fail

  • Review RSoA & discovery report for compliance with SLA
  • Tune management pack, if necessary
  • Review alerts and discovery results and tune appropriate overrides

Version Control/Backup

  • Create management pack repository folders and check-in modified management pack
  • Generate the audit history report

Notify & Report

  • Create change management report with override audit history, RSoA and comparison reports
  • Notify original requestor

Deploy

  • Import the management pack into the QA or production Operations Manager environment

Document Changes

  • Run comparison set for the management pack, comparing the file and QA copies to the production copy & document results
