ConfigWise for Microsoft Security Compliance Manager (SCM) Environments
Your Single Pane of Glass for Security Compliance Reporting across Microsoft Environments and Beyond
Security Compliance Manager (SCM version 2) is a free Solution Accelerator from Microsoft that provides ready to deploy security baselines based on Microsoft Security guide recommendations and industry best practices. SCM security baselines can be used to address compliance requirements, reduce security threats and harden your environment for Windows® client and server operating systems, and Microsoft applications. With SCM, you can take advantage of the deep security expertise and best practices in the updated security guides, and the attack surface reference workbooks to help reduce the security risks that you consider to be the most important and then analyze your configurations against prebuilt baselines for the latest Windows client and server operating systems. SCM baselines can be used with System Center Configuration Manager’s DCM as well as with Silect’s ConfigWise to manage configuration drift and detect if configurations drift into an unsecured state.
You can’t realize the value of Microsoft’s Security Compliance Manager if results are not readily available and aligned to business needs across the organization. Within minutes ConfigWise can be installed and begin comparing your configurations to the security best practices contained within the SCM baselines to give you insight into your security environment.
ConfigWise support for Microsoft System Compliance Manager is made available as part of the standard product (no additional Smart Pack download is required).
ConfigWise is a robust, central reporting solution specifically designed for IT Pros to quickly and easily collect, detect changes and create custom dashboards to report on system and application information across physical and virtual environments. ConfigWise is an extensible reporting platform which can be used across systems and applications without complex report development or application integration.
Bring the benefits of ConfigWise’s robust dashboard reporting capabilities and extended platform support to environments using Microsoft’s Security Compliance Manager:
- Deliver custom reporting dashboards with information collected from any SCM baseline, including historical reporting and compliance trends over time, all integrated within a single view
- View top “non-compliant” policies and systems at a glance and drill down directly to the configuration items, including the expected and actual values causing non-compliance
- Summarize by computer, by policy or configuration item, with advanced filtering to scope compliance results to your needs
- Gain insight into your security environment to assist pre-implementation planning with configuration inventory analysis and change management reporting and optionally export ConfigWise policies to SCCM as DCM baselines
- Manage configuration baselines throughout the lifecycle, whether they originate from SCM or are generated by ConfigWise from a configured “golden-master” system

Want to extend security hardening and compliance reporting to non-Windows environments, including Linux, VMware ESX and network devices? ConfigWise provides direct support for configuration integrity monitoring for non-Windows platforms and allows you to view the results within ConfigWise dashboards to provide a single view of your configuration compliance across the enterprise.
Need to deliver configuration integrity monitoring to environments without the support of SCCM/DCM? ConfigWise is your solution. Since ConfigWise works both with and without SCCM/DCM, ConfigWise allows you to implement SCM baselines for security compliance and configuration integrity monitoring.
